Laura van den Berg’s short stories have won a Pushcart Prize and have been included in Best New American Voices, 2010. She says of her choices: There are a great many stories I love, so it was challenging to select just ten. In the end, I settled on stories that reached me at a crucial moment, when I urgently needed to read something that expanded my understanding of the human experience and literature’s ability to capture it.
